Some nice thoughts there. What does everybody else think?

I really like the sound of that idea.

How do you think these special items would be incorporated into the actual act of improving the weapon? What I mean by that is, would the items simply be able to improve the weapon (etc) "magically" or would one need a certain skill level or ability in the generic (standard HOTU) craft skills, or would they be done by a third party?

For instance, Sissfus' focuses on critical hit's to do more damage....therefore the whetstone would be ideal for him (currently at 15-20 crit range, keen would take him further). But does he or someone else need weapon crafting skills to sharpen the rapiers, does the same applie for the bone you mentioned...to me these two things appear to be a different act (sharpening a sword as compared to strengthening the draw of a bow) in terms of complexity

I guess it could depend on the item. There might be an item out there that could augment a weapon on its own, but there might be items you find which would only be useful in the hands of a skilled smith/craftsman/etc., or which you could use if you had the skill. I also have a couple of other ideas which will remain in my head for now . . .

The current module, which should last another session or two, is already built, so any ideas will come into play at some point after that.
