Hey all,
Need some help, in non tech terms if possible.
Briefly, old pc busted, might, might be able to rework it get it going again eventually. Was able to salvage all my nwn1 mods/haks/characters off old pc...got new pc...it is running Vista of course..
How can I get my NWN(original game, sou/hotu/nwn1, various mods lots of em) mods to work? lol I saw some posts over Bio saying go set your compatability to XP in your NWN folder...but I can't find where that option is or where I'm supposed to add or change that? What folder is it under?
Will that work?

Hey, how's it going? Yep, still going . . . we're about to wrap up this leg of our campaign and then take a break. What have you been playing?
I didn't have to change anything to get the NWN2 game client working with Vista. I just copied everything into the appropriate folder. The Toolset was a different story - I had to disable Visual Themes, or something like that. Both that and compatibility mode are accessed the same way. Just go to the icon in your NWN2 install folder, right click, and click the Compatibility tab. The option for compatibility mode and visual themes, and a few other things, is there. I really haven't had any Vista issues at all with NWN2 (knock on wood).

PLaying a few various things, I like to go back and play older mods still for sp stuff. NWN1mods, that is. Was just finishing HotU with a diff charater build when pc crashed. I played through Careena Krakona rising again couple months ago, and was gonna play through the Aielund Saga again next I bet. lol But those are all NWN1 mods, that's why I was seeing if anyone plays the old stuff anymore, how to work it on Vista.
I will be playing through NWN2 again soon I bet, along with the expansion after that. I did play through a SP NWN2 Pool of Radiance remake, it's on vault. Was pretty good. Again, I'll try that compatibility switch in properties.
I'll uninstall my NWN DIamond and reinstall, than try that before laucnhing and see if it works. Read some other places abotu some sound copat issues as well as only running it on one core...not sure how to only run it on one core, this new pc has dual core sometherothers. lol
Other stuff I play a lot still are the shooters. Counter Strike for multiplayer shooitng sna dvarious sp shooters for goofin off, Painkiller is pretty fun, sorta Doom3/Fear atmoshpere. Nothing is as good as Doom3 and it's Expansion, but it has good "hell" type effects and things to kill.
Hmm what else have I played these last six months or so, Titan Quest and it's Expansion, Civilization IV, COmmand and COnquer Tiberium Wars. lol

I haven't played many, but there are finally some NWN2 user made modules coming out that are getting good reviews. I really enjoyed Tragedy in Tragidor. Stick with that if you start, as the last third or so is awesome. I've played a little Call of Duty 4 and Crysis (single player both - I suck), and was tooling around in Flight Simulator X.
Other than that, I've been building for our campaign here, and I started a new site as well -
Neverwinter Nights Campaigns
. I've also thought it was hard to sort through forum posts and game listing at NWC to locate campaigns, so I'm trying to consolidate everything in one spot. Oh, and I've been planning a wedding (well, mostly watching my fiance plan it).

Got it to work!
Uninstalled, reinstalled, applied the compatibility xp, ran the update since it was like version 1.66, the upadte failed, so found and ran the critical rebuild for 1.69, that worked.
Trasfered a few of my characters over, transfered some saved games, and they worked. So relieved. lol Only thing so far is I can't skip through the opening stuff after launching, the atari and other company logos part, the movie with the minataur fight etc..I normally would skip that stuff, but when I try to it crashes out, so..I just have to sit through it. lol
Haven't really played, just a couple quick launches and a few moments in game, but hopefully will work fine.
thanks for help
