The epic of trying to get Microsoft to replace a damaged xp home Cd continues, and it doesn't look like I'm going to get anywhere.
I was wondering, does anyone either a) Have a copy of XP home (just the cd, I have my own key, which I got legally) that they could burn and mail to me? or b) know of a place that I can download another copy for use with my cd-key? (no idea if this is legal, but *shrug*)
Like I said in other posts...I legally own windows xp home, I have my own cd key, I just don't have a cd, nor do I have an image on my drive. *curse*

I'll look around again for mine. Computer had crashed out a couple months ago and was having my computer guy come get it to fix, and I couldn't find it. I figured he would need it, but he took it and loaded one of his own.
I'll look around for mine, if I find it I'll see about burning it. You need ion cd or dvd? Think I just have dvd-rs here, need more cds.
Anayway, I'll post here if I can find it.

I use XP Home; mine is a Dell though, which I believe, but can't be sure, means that they somehow make the disc so that it will only install on the machine it shipped with (I know that was the case with PowerDVD - wouldn't install elsewhere). I found the disc and it is not a standard Microsoft looking disc, but looks like my other Dell discs. It says "Reinstallation CD, Microsoft XP Home Edition Including Service Pack 1" and has the Dell logo on it. The disc also says "Only use this CD to reinstall the operating system on a Dell computer."
So, anybody know anything about Dell's, and just how proprietary this would be?

THe epic continues!
Windows is back up and running, my graphics card is in the slot...and wheeee, green pixels! Before windows even starts! So, this ain't a driver problem, looks like I got a bad card. The seller will exchange it, just need to send it back (the down side of buying on the internet)..off to the post office!

Venture wrote:I copied this over from my other thread regarding the patch. And I think this was for patching to 1.01, not even 1.02. As far as how much space is needed.
I only patched to 1.01 anyway, not to 1.02. V had mentioned he heard the 1.02 patch had probs, so I avoided that one.
So, based on V's post above, it looks like you'll need between 5-9gb of space for the patch.
